Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan
Restorative dentistry involves repairing teeth that have been affected by tooth decay, trauma, developmental abnormalities or other damage.
Our restorative services are designed specifically for children’s and teenagers’ developing teeth and include:
- Tooth-coloured fillings
- Paediatric crowns
- Adolescent crowns
- Root canal treatment for children’s and teenagers’ teeth
- Dental trauma management
- Adolescent dental aesthetics
Our objective is to preserve natural teeth whenever possible while restoring comfort, function and appearance.
Tooth-coloured fillings are restorations used to repair teeth affected by decay or minor damage.
They are designed to restore the shape and function of the tooth while providing a natural-looking appearance.
Whether a tooth-coloured filling is appropriate depends on factors such as:
- The size of the cavity
- The location of the tooth
- The amount of healthy tooth structure remaining
- The child’s age
- The child’s dental development
- The child’s ability to tolerate treatment
We will assess the tooth and recommend the most appropriate restorative option.
A dental crown covers and protects a tooth that has been significantly weakened by decay, trauma or previous treatment.
Crowns may be recommended when a conventional filling would not provide sufficient protection or when a tooth requires more extensive restoration.
In children and teenagers, the choice of crown and treatment approach depends on the tooth involved, the child’s age, the stage of dental development and the amount of healthy tooth structure remaining.
Our aim is to preserve the tooth and restore its strength, function and appearance wherever possible.
Yes. Root canal treatment can be performed on both baby teeth and permanent teeth when the dental pulp has become inflamed, infected or irreversibly damaged.
Depending on the child’s age and the tooth involved, treatment may be referred to as pulp therapy for baby teeth or root canal treatment for permanent teeth.
Treatment may be necessary when a tooth has:
- Deep decay
- Significant trauma
Infection - Persistent dental pain
- Extensive damage
Treating an affected tooth can relieve symptoms and, where appropriate, allow the tooth to remain functional rather than being removed prematurely.
Deep tooth decay or dental trauma can allow bacteria to reach the inner part of the tooth where the nerves and blood vessels are located.
When the pulp becomes severely inflamed or infected, simply placing a filling may not be enough.
Root canal or pulp treatment can remove the affected tissue, manage infection and allow the tooth to be restored.
For a baby tooth, preserving the tooth may also help maintain space and function until the permanent tooth is ready to erupt.
For our adolescent patients who want to improve the aesthetics of their teeth, we focus on improving the appearance of the teeth while taking into account the teenager’s ongoing dental development and oral health.
Depending on the individual situation, aesthetic treatment may address:
- Tooth shape
- Tooth colour
- Minor tooth damage
- Discolouration
- Developmental abnormalities
- Appearance following dental trauma
- The appearance of restorations
We take a conservative approach wherever possible, considering both the immediate aesthetic concern and the long-term health of the developing teeth.
